I hear ya there.
There are several things that need the boats attention first though. The transom is in real bad shape, so that is going to take priority right now. Once I have that squared away I'll figure out what needs to get done next.
Pics of my progress in removing old decking, and some of the issues I described above. You can click the images to enlarge them.
Here is the boat with one of the seats removed and the start of my removing the old decking. The decking was apparently constructed of pressure treated 2x4s for the...
Tonight I started removing the decking and underlying framing. Whomever did the initial installation over engineered this sucker something fierce. I'm guessing that there is easily 200+ lbs of wood on this boat. The boat is only rated at 605lbs (I was able to see the capacity plate after...
Obviously I don't know jack about welding or anything like that. This just looked really easy. I guess the old saying holds true here. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
So is welding aluminum easy to do, or is it probably not a good place for a beginner to start?
Just got one today on the cheap. I have no idea how old it is and I'm not even sure where to find the serial number. The primary question I have is... How do I mix the oil & gas? Right now I have it at 32:1, but I've read some outboards use 40:1, 50:1, etc... So I'm really not sure. I didn't...
thanks for the info guys. I ended up not getting this motor. Held out a bit and just found a Mercury 110, 9.9HP on the bay $305. Should be picking it up on Sunday. Can't wait to get this sucker out into the water with a real motor!
Well my problem was definitely the ground. In my stupidity I never wired the ground back in place.
Lights functional - and I didn't have to go all jerryriggin' on it. Thanks guys!
I've got 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I just put a Reese hitch on it a few weeks ago and last week ordered the wiring harness from etrailers. I know the lights worked on the trailer as we had the running the night we picked the trailer/boat up (a friend helped me with his truck) but I can't seem...
where does one acquire a pole like that in the first place?
I think my bday gift arrived today from the GFK. He ordered some stuff from the Bass Pro Shop. Today an 11' pole arrived! It was listed as a baitcast rod/reel combo. Apparently it wasn't quite what he was expecting so we'll...
ugh... Can someone explain this backing thing to me? I was considering going with a braided line for my next setup but now I'm not so sure. Sounds all complicated and what not!
I'm going to be in the studio pretty much all weekend, but I'm going to try to get out there in the next couple of days. I figure that if I can't turn it over I'll leave it alone, otherwise I'll go for it. Definitely not at that price though.
I figure if I can get it to start and it runs for...
I'm looking at a 7hp Gamefisher? (1973) with tank, and battery box for $150. Is that too much or a good deal? They don't know if it runs... I figure I can check on that though.
Any thing to watch for? Price suggestions? Opinions on motor itself?
I figure this is a good crowd to ask about both of these knives, seeing how many of you are hunters too.
First - I'm looking for a quality fillet knife. We have a cheap rapala brand fillet but it seems to be mediocre at best. I remember watching people fillet fish on the docks off the gulf of...
I have this combo (though my rod wasn't the Berkley, it's labeled as an Abu Garcia) and love it. I'll probably buy myself another one before spring, or getting the Pro Max.
I dropped mine in the lake on Sunday (almost didn't get it back!) and it sat at the bottom for a good 5-10minutes until I...
I actually reside in Fishers so you're not that far away at all. I just recently landed a decent cat over at Geist Park (the only public shoreline I know of), and have scored decently at Morse as well. My GF landed a whale of cat in the White River a few months ago... I'm eager to try it out...
