    question about agm batteries.

AGM batteries will go until they stop, and then they stop, lol. There's very little voltage wane like with a lead acid battery. I've only ran mine out a few times, but they go 100% right up until they just die, they don't go downhill slowly over time. That might explain the amp hour ratings...

    question about leaded line.

You can use some of that lead line to get your bass crankbaits deeper too, I've heard of folks using some as a leader to do that, but never tried it.

    which trolling motor?

More is better, just be careful since it's foot control and on the bow of a small boat (for 70 lbs of thrust.) Tighten the drag on the turn control and keep it on lower speed or you might be swimming in short order :)

    Hinging Options

I'm cheap so I'd probably opt for the full-length piano hinge from the hardware store. The join of lid to hinge is actually quite a bit stronger than you'd think, even in 1/2 inch, because there's a screw every couple inches (and you can add more if you have a drill..) and the load is evenly...

    Storage area divider

Farm supply places sell rubber matting that would work to both protect the metal underneath and keep things from sliding, ask for rubber horse matting or truck bed matting, it's usually about 3/4" thick, works great in the bed of a truck or under a washing machine that likes to walk, fairly...

    Homemade sinker molds?

Anyone ever made their own sinker molds? I was thinking about trying with wood first, maybe hard maple, but not sure how the repeated heat would damage the wood? I thought about buying Do-it molds, but in the sizes/styles I want, the molds only makes one at a time (of a size), that would kinda...

Right or left handed? Dumb question.

Agreed. Right-handed with lefty-bait casters here. Exception: my catfish rods do have right-retrieve, but those don't switch hands like a bass rod, cast > go in the rod holder > fish on! > out of the rod holder, so really no wasted motions like switching hands when bass fishing.

    braid on a baitcaster?

I run powerpro or ugly braid (they're very similar) on nearly all my spinning and baitcast reels, works great once you get used to the sensitivity. I actually learned how to baitcast with braid, so it's a lot easier for me on a baitcast than mono. For bass-type and ultra-light, I don't use a...

    SS Hazard to Navigation

Congrats on a successful first voyage. As others have said, I'd first check that the prop-shaft is at least a couple inches below the bottom of the boat, then start playing with the trim, trim it down if the prop is blowing out. I wouldn't worry about bow drop until those two things are...

    Carp Guard

Nice, a little bit out of the range of my budget for this mod though lol :) My current thought is that I could use a nice, high rod holder on the stern for river fishing, so I'm going to try to come up with a combination CarpGuard/rod holder. That way it will actually be useful when not in...

    Carp Guard

I like it, though I'm gonna try the A-frames first for the sides instead of an inverted T, simply because I already have a pair. You know, I did google a little and was surprised to NOT find any kind of commercial offering for this sort of thing, so don't laugh that much yet, I see opportunity...

    Carp Guard

WW, they come from everywhere, they just seem to dart for the surface at whatever angle they were at if a boat comes within 20-30 feet. Going 20-25 or faster, I'd only be concerned about those coming over the bow or close to it. I plane around 18, so if I'm not going at least that fast, I'm...

    Carp Guard

Excellent idea regarding using the seat mount, hadn't though of that yet. I think I'd rather catch them than deflect out of the boat though, they make good catfish bait when cut up :) I also hear they're not bad eating, the jumping variety anyway...

    Carp Guard

So I took my boat out on its maiden voyage yesterday... on the Mississippi river. I was trying to familiarize myself with the boat so I wasn't really fishing, but I did manage to catch an asian carp (about 10 lb.er) to the shoulder. So, I was thinking that if I am to take the kids with me on...

    Repair #1

Concerning the bearing races, use brass or wood rod and a hammer, use light taps and even pressure (work it around the race) so you don't scar the hub with the race. You can put them in the same way in reverse if you don't have a press, to get them started, use a flat piece of wood that covers...

Post a Pic of your boat!

Thanks for the link, I now have an email with pictures into them for more info :). You might be right, but I didn't see a good match layout-wise in thier sac-a-lait section and my hull is .195 thick. I think this is either a discontinued model or might have been a custom job. Hopefully they...

Post a Pic of your boat!

Thanks guys, and thanks for supporting/contributing to this site, I haven't posted much but I have been using the site heavily as a resource during the rebuild. This is actually my first boat, so I've needed a lot of info :) Luckily, the motor's in great condition (only 140 hours according to...
