Thanks guys, I'm totally stoked. I had to clean replace the line and bulb on the tank the guy gave me and learned the hard way that the tank wasn't vented automatically. $275 and a day of trouble shooting a fuel supply problem and that thing runs like a Swiss watch. I don't like pull starting...

    Fuel starvation on a 1980 15hp Gamefisher

The tank that came with the motor didn't have an automatic vent, and it sure enough was closed. Problem solved and that thing runs like a Swiss watch with new plugs and the fuel line fixed. Thanks to Frogman and a couple old threads. That thing pushes my old jon boat up on a plane fully loaded...

    Fuel starvation on a 1980 15hp Gamefisher

The other 25% may be me not opening the vent on the tank... closed it to put the tank in the boat so I didn't spill fuel and never reopened it. I bet its really that simple, stay tuned and I will tell ya how she runs in the morning.

    Fuel starvation on a 1980 15hp Gamefisher

I bought a 1980 or 81 Sears Gamefisher made I guess by Eska. The thing runs and idles great but it has a fuel starvation problem on the upper end of the throttle that will cause it to stall unexpectedly. I fixed the hose from the tank, the previous owner had 3/8" fuel line and 1/4" fitting and...

Talking about boats and fishing at work today and my buddy is thumbing through his craigslist alerts when an old 15hp Gamefisher pops up for beer money. My buddy mentions it and I get serious and run out and see the guy. Sure enough it's pretty clean, and he throughs it in a barrel and runs it...

trueblue1970- Nah, my other boat was a 14' shallow V with nearly the same beam. Lots more usable space in the jon it seams. My buddy that fishes with me likes it and he usually fishes a 12' V. He's considering a 12' jon if he can find a 1236 for a desent price. I wanted a 14' because thats the...

Raining when I woke up, so I loaded up the boat anyway. Dug around in the attic and found enough Army issue rain gear for me and my buddy. My little 5hp Nissan didn't care for the extra weight of my buddy in place of my son and she wouldn't get up on a plane, just pushed water at about 8 mph...

Free Galvanized trailer that needs some work. Need ideas..

for a V-hull you'll probably need to stand them up. A trailer for a 14" aluminum V should be a pretty simple set-up, I just posted pictures of mine in my 1436 Lowe build. I didn't change it much for my jon boat, it had a 14' sears aluminum on it before, really just changed to flat rollers for...

    BentoniaPhil's 15ft Terry Jon

I just welded 3 broken ribs and a number of other cracks in my boat. I don't expect them to be as strong as new but my plan all along has been to put an aluminum floor in her. I'm thinking the weld backed up by some 1/8" aluminum plate tied into ever other rib in the boat, fill the void with...

Sitting around planning the last few days of the vacation and searching the forum for ideas when bricks popped into mind. I had a pile on the side of the house that used to be patio pavers prior to me building a covered porch on the back of the house. They had set around since last summer simple...

Newbie - Just bought a 14 ft Gregor Jon Boat

Sweet, that looks a lot better than the beat old jon boat I'm starting. I had to spend 1/2 a day welding before I would even trust mine to float. Good luck and have fun.

First time on the water, a lot faster than my V hull with the Nissan 5 hp pushing. We got it up just shy of 15mph but it averages about 13 1/2. That'll do for now, I'll keep a lookout for a cherry 10hp.

I know, I just replaced the plywood, but that 1/4" aluminum plate was just calling to me. It ain't got the beauty and warmth of real wood but I'll never have to replace it again either.

Thanks for sharing river, I'll thank you in advance for borrowing some of your ideas. Got some 1/4" plate from the guys over at Capital and fabbed up a new transom brace, if I break that one I probably deserved it.

    Duracraft duck build

I like to use neoprene washers under the flat washers on any bolts going through the transom or any place prone to leaks, on the outside against the hull, no gooey stuff needed. Just a thought

I don't quite know yet either Gunny, maybe some aluminum floors, some raised swivel seats and pole holders to get her in some sort of fishing shape to start. Some new plywood for the transom. The stuff inside will have to wait until winter, seems more solid and looks like major surgery and the...

It didn't have any place to hook onto the bow for my trailer so I had to make something. A stainless steel u-bolt and a piece of 1/4" inch aluminum plate to reenforce the hull should do it.

3 of the ribs were cracked or outright broken in the back half ofthe boat so they got the torch. I plan to reenforce them with a floor as soon as I figure how I want to do it and find some material, most likely aluminum decking.

Both rails were cracked from a hard shot to the right side right were they meet the transom crner pieces and the transom bracket was completely broken.

I had to plug weld the lower bolt holes for the wooden jackplate I remove when I discovered the cracked weld from a hard hit on the bottom center of the transom.
