I remember Marlin boats. They were not uncommon in lakes in my neck of the woods. Other than being fiberglass, I can' say much about them. I would say since they have been out of production for over 50 years, what matters now is condition. Whatever structural support was used is likely wood.

BTW, when I saw the pic, I thought at first it was. a Barracuda. Forgot all about Rambler's Marlin.

Ski Barge made a Marlin, and they were very popular for a long time.

I have a 1969 Ski Barge 19 Barracuda, but I wanted the 20' Marlin. They are very lightly built, but hold a TON of weight. They are the first deck boat/flats boat, according to some. Look at this pic... a 20' Marlin holding a Volkswagen Beetle and pulling 5 skiers with a 60 HP Evinrude!

This was one of the pictures from their brochure in 1964 I believe:

Here are pictures of mine:

It's fairly low-profile, but has some good V in the front to cut waves

It has an absolute TON of deck space!

You can fish a bunch of people in this thing. This is the last time it floated, and the kids were catching crappie. Fishy boat!

I have been holding onto this boat for awhile. It has soft spots in the deck, and I don't know the condition of the stringers. Super easy rebuild, I just haven't had time to get into it. Maybe this summer!

If this boat is as good as it seems, it might be replacing my aluminum boat, but we will see.
