A buddy of mine has one of these motors on his 16ft riverhawk he uses in the river. He said he really likes his, and has had no problems that I know of. They seem like a pretty good motor for the price. Good Luck!

I hope it doesnt give me any problems. My friend has an older Nissan 9.9 ( converted to 15) and it still runs like a top

It's a short shaft right? It's weird they say it's the lightest in it's class.

My 87' 15hp Gamefisher weighs 60#.

What's the difference these days? I figured they would get lighter.

Is your gamefisher a 4 stroke?
15hp=60lbs that is light.

Well, I weighed it last week and no it's a 2 stroke.

I don't know much about outboards tho.

Does 2 more strokes and 5.2 less hp = 28.2#? :lol:

The issue lies with Gamefisher.They are lighter because they are more simple and cheaply made.The Tohotsu is more robust 4 stroke with better materials.I like Gamefisher but they are what they are.

I got my motor, I LOVE IT!!!! It fired up after 1 push of the electric start and also fired up after a half pull on the start rope!.. So far I am glad I bought it..

The weight diff, is due to 4 strokes being a lot heavier.

I was up at Cabelas in Kansas City a coouple years ago and the saleman pulled covers off all the 9.8 9.9 motors and they were all the same motor!! They had four brands.

I endup with a Merc 15. its easy on gas!!!1
