[QUOTE="86tuning, post: 445903, member: 23006"] Thanks guys for the tips and encouragement. So far, I've been playing with my little Lincoln SP125 with some .030" 5356 wire and argon. The little welder's settings are close to maximum. Learning to weld aluminum has been fun. Plain beads in the middle of 1/8" sheet have been kinda meh, but the inside corners have been reasonably strong. I'll cut up some slightly larger pieces of aluminum and practice some more. With the small pieces they heated up pretty quickly. Hopefully the larger pieces won't draw too much heat out, and still allow reasonable penetration. Still have to get the ski into the garage to make it run properly. Then learn to do butt, lap and outside corner joints. Getting really excited! But will likely buy the TIG welder and learn to TIG as well. Maybe even try to rig up a wire feed to the TIG. Haha.
