You're dang skippy, I would!

We're going to try to make some holes this winter that would lure something of that scale to take up residence.

I don't think it would considered you grabbing the fish, it would be more like the fish grabbing you. The 50 pounders I catch have an awful strong set of jaws in them. They will draw blood. I wear a set of mechanics gloves while handling them.
 
They are catching more and more big flatheads around here. Not good for the bream population (the flatheads, not the catching). Someone caught one a pound or two over 100 on a bush line in SC not long ago.
 
I think the fish have always been there, more people are just starting to target them now. Flatheads are pretty specific feeders in that they really want live bait. They love bream.

It takes years upon years for one to reach that size.
