What kind of footwear do you guys use when getting out fishing during the winter? Looking at getting a new pair of boots for this winter, and not sure what to get. Can't afford to spend a fortune on them either...would like to stay under $100 bucks. Would like them insulated(400+ grams), probably camo, and the shorter style(like 8-9" height?). What do you guys use?

I've got these, but I hardly wear them. I wear long rubber boots that I think are Rocky Deer Stalkers...

These are good ones though - and there on sale for $100.

My feet where always cold standing on the ice fishing. That is until I picked up a pair of Mickey boots

If you want warm you will not beat these for warm and cheap. You trade off big and ugly though

I like a rubber boat with an insulated liner that I can take out and dry.Icebear_realtree.jpg
They do make these in camo, mine are just green.
There to warm if your going to be working, great for fishing, alittle bulky for hunting but still fine.

We had those available on a ship I was on...............................,

I use these for fall pheasant hunting and deer hunting if the snow isn't to deep. They are a canvas like material and not leather. They are very lightweight and have been great.

a little over $100, but well worth it. For really deep snow I use the knee high rubber boots with 1000 gram thinsulate Rock Buckstalkers like Russ was talking about.

What's the difference between the white ones and the black ones (besides the color Cap't)? I heard that the white ones were better for extreme cold from someone else.

I have used the tried and true Sorel boots for almost 40 years. Leather uppers, rubber bottoms and most importantly, removable felt liners. The key to warm feet is dry feet. You can take the liners out of the boots at the end of your day and let them dry out over night. They are old school, not made with all the new tech materials but they work. I found when I worked outdoors that even those cheap yellow cotton gloves with the red cuffs would keep my hands warm (I wore two pairs at a time) so long as they were dry. I used to have eight pairs with me and changed at breaks and lunch time. I was able to work in temps in the minus 20° range. The same is true with your feet. Keep them dry and keep your boots or liners dry, it makes all the difference.
