I posted a question in the "motor" section and got a few responses. Here is the same question again, with responses from different members. So, I combined the two posts here in Watering Hole, thinking that we would get more readers and mor responses to further clarify this issue.

After reading both posts, please respond with your thoughts.

Thanks from Fishingcop and victoryn ......

Didnt the motor gurus indicate that is was exhaust oil?

yes, and I am inclined to agree, but, since the question came up again, I thought it wise to re-post to get more opinions. There were some differing opinions on my first post - including a suggestion to de-carbon the motor - what ever that is....???

I had a buyer with $950 cash in hand that backed off because of what seemed to be an oil leak?? Just trying to learn more and make sure it is a normal situation......

when i run my motor with the flusher muffs a little bit of gas/oil comes out of the prop. i know its wasnt lower unit oil because i changed it the other day and it looked exactly like it should. hopefully its normal

Mine does this too when it sits in the garage for a long time. I have smelled it and it seems like oil. Decarbing would also just be carbon, burned fuel particles, which is a little thicker which could also seep out of the exhaust. I was scared the first time I saw it and called my outboard guy, he said it was completely normal.
