Anybody ever.....

fished from the beach in Orange Beach, Alabama????? Will be taking the family there during the week of Memorial Day and want to do some fishing from the beach. I don't care what I catch, just want to catch some kind of fish no matter the size. Any suggestions on the bait and lures I should use????? I might have to try a swimbait!!!!! Thanks, Scott Woody

Have surf fished there and Gulf Shores many times. I've never done super but have always caught fish.

If you just want something to tug on your line, get a pound of fresh shrimp. Rig it drop shot, carolina, or under a popping cork. I mainly used plastics on a jighead, spoons, and topwater. Your bass tackle will work just remember to wash it just as soon as you get to a hose. Soak your reel good. Don't forget some 20lbs Florocarbon or a couple light short steel leaders.

There are also 2 freshwater lakes at the Gulf State Park right near Orange Beach.

Rig up a 9/0 hook with a fresh mullet chunk and hold on!!!

Not sure what months are best, but you may catch a bull red while you're there.
