Used to do manual labor(lobster fish),up until I was 38.
Work indoors now,not really manual but not hard labor either.
I worked my 45-50 hours last week and went to help my father(74)single his roof.
Those bundles have to be heavier then 40lbs or I really need to start lifting weights.
After 60 bundles,sunburn,blisters,sore body and flies I'm about spent.
Good news though,the house is all done,except the ridge cap.
I think I'll look for a manual job on the side to keep my hands tougher...
 
Yes, I've been working nights the last three months, resting most of my time off. Pulled a truck load of weeds last Monday, a bit sore that evening. Woke up to agony in my lower legs Tuesday and by Friday it had moved through my body to my shoulders. I couldn't believe how out of shape I was after just three months of nights...

Yeah, it's tough getting older. We can't do everything we did when we were younger and body parts hurt the next day when we try. But as we say in the morgue, "It beats the alternative."
