The cat got a hold of this little guy. Anyone know what kind it is?

Disclaimer: "Dead" is not the answer I'm looking for

I'm not the TinBoats herpetology expert (Fender66 is), but the triangular head says venemous and the leaf cammo pattern says Copperhead. The yellow tail may indicate something else, though. I've killed three copperheads in my backyard this year. Beautiful creatures but I can't have them that close to the house. Give your cat a reward.

No question about it. It's a copperhead. Triangular head, elliptical pupils, and the pattern is right. A lot of folks confuse corn snakes with copperheads but in this case it's definitely a copperhead.

Looks like bait

However, I would also use the cat for bait - I really hate how cats kill all sorts of reptiles, good and bad
