Does anyone know where to find good detailed topo maps for lakes and rivers? Preferably free. I googled it and gave up on the search because they wanted MONEY! Haha

Call the local dep for the body of water.

Have an iPad? Navionics us lakes and Marine HD $34.99 for the whole country
Have an iPhone? Navionics us lakes and Marine $14.99 for the whole country
And there's a pc version also. I think it's $40

In Mich the DNR has in their web site topos of quite a few of the inland lakes throughout the state. :D

+2 on the Navionics chips, they make chips for most gps handhelds. I would also look in NOAA's website, I know they have bathy charts, not sure about lakes and rivers though.

I ended up buying the navionics for 9.99 for my iPhone...its awesome. I haven't taken it out yet but I've been playing around with it. You can't beat it for $9.99!

i would like to find something the shows closer detail like small holes in creeks or ponds. theres a couple of shallow areas that i know of that have productive holes but only show up as a flat on the map. Seems great for a lot particularly saltwater bay fishing but not so much in that in my opinion.
