Who has one and how do you like it? Accurate enough? What am I looking for?

I am looking for a good cheapie. One with a sensor that stays outside. Are they any good?

Looking at Oregon Scientific and La Crosse.

I've had a few over the years very simliar to the Oregon Scientific brand. Finding a good spot for the wireless temperature/humidity sensor can be a challenge. Try to find a location that doesn't get direct sunlight and if possible not attached to the house. I found the heat from inside would radiate and affect the temperature by a few degrees on a cold winters day. Mind you, maybe that was just because my house wasn't insulated very well!!

I have mounted the weather vane right at the peak on my roof to get the best unobstructed readings. The pain in the butt there is you have wires running down to the transmitter...and I'm not one for stapling or putting any holes through my shingles.

Overall though, I have found them accurate and would often check the barometric trends before heading out fishing.

I started researching them last year before the holidays. Discovered a women at work who is a storm chaser, and general weather nutt. She is tapped into the Wunderground network and recommended thier site for information about which models, brands are recommended for the application your after.

https://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/index.asp

or go to the home page wunderground.com and scroll to the bottom and look for the weatherstation link. Tons of useful info. I too am interested in more information about personal experiences. Someday Ill have a weatherstation, and a Ham radio. But thats another subject.

I often use the Wunderground site to view the weather. I like the radar better, and the concept of network individual weather stations is pretty neat. My wife bought me a weather station two years ago for Christmas, a La Crosse brand, and by June it had stopped working. The batteries went dead, and when I replaced them, the receiver wouldn't connect to the temp/wind sensor. I never called them about it though, I assume it's too late now...

Might look in to getting another weather station at some point. It was neat to watch as storms rolled in.

Next time I shoot over to bassPro I am going to buy one. I am thinking this one:

They seem like decent basic units.

I was thinking of something with rain/snow fall, wind speed, etc.
ARound the $300 range.

I'm looking for one that also includes
Moon Phase,
Tides,
and
FISHING PROBIBILITY
......I'm sure it would cost a small fortune.

What the heck are you gonna do with a weather station - you live in Mass - the weather is this:

Cold, very cold, and downright nasty cold

oh yeah - windy about 89 percent of the time with lots of snow and cold rain

Did I mention cold

There - send me what you would have spent on the weather station - HAW!

I found the perfect Weather Station.

It's been almost a month since I got the Fisherman Weather station for Christmas, so far she has proven herself worthy and accurate.

I've had a couple of different units that used the wireless sensors. I thought mine was broken the first time I had to replace the batteries until I noticed that you could have up to 3 remotes. That meant you had to select which one you were monitoring on the base unit in order to get the sender and receiver to match up. You might check yours to see if that's what the problem is.

Appears to be only for Coastal waters. Doesn't have any states in the midwest, or other noncoastal states. Doesn't even have great lake states.
