Has anyone used those carport/canopies with the metal frame and the vinyl tops? I only have a single garage and am anxious to get started on my summer boat project. For the last two springs I've been rained out for several weeks and by July it's just too hot to work without cover.

None of the ads I've looked at mention them sailing away in a storm. I would be placing mine on a concrete slab next to the garage so I suppose I could anchor directly into the concrete. Even anchored down I don't see how they can possibly be rigid enough to stand without some ropes or cross-ties to keep them from folding over in the wind.

Love to get some feedback from anyone who's used one.

they wont hold up to snow load and will collapse
I have thought about getting one here
they do make them that will hold the snow load but they are very expensive
my neighbor has one the wind wasn't an issue the frame does have some weight to them
so unless you are talking high gusts it should stay put

I've never seen one with a vinyl roof so you must be talking about something a little different than what people are using around here. The "metal carports" common here are pretty substantial galvanized metal tubing frames with a metal roof. They aren't cheap starting at $600 and up but they are rated for pretty high winds and 90 lbs sq ft of snow load if I remember correctly.

I guess that's the answer...
