A tape measure with a built in pencil. Thoughts on this?

Good idea,but way overpriced. I can get a Stanley 25' powerlock for around $10, pencil for $1. Cannot justify xtra $9 for a built-in pencil. Since I'm extra hard on my tools,Tape measures don't last very long in my hands.

I need a left-handed one ...

Well heck, you can occasionally get a free tape measure from Harbor Freight when they offer a coupon and everybody usually has a pencil laying around, so I'd say Johnnys' idea pretty well covers it. And it sure beats $19.99!

The lead refills are 9 bucks for a 2 pack. For that price, I could get roughly 12 carpenter pencils. I could see how that would be useful on small smooth projects but that thing wouldn't stand up to OSB.

whats wrong with the old fashioned carpenters pencil?

and yes, the pencil is hand sharpened with a pocket (or box) knife.

Built in knife? If not, forget it.

I love my carpenter pencils. I'll admit though, I'm very good at losing them behind my ear.

i love them too. especially sharping them.

They make sharpeners for them. This is the one I have.

yeah, I have a couple of those plastic gadgets too.
Probably 20 years old and used once.
