A tape measure with a built in pencil. Thoughts on this?

Good idea, but way overpriced. I can get a Stanley 25' powerlock for around $10, pencil for $1. Cannot justify xtra $9 for a built-in pencil. Since I'm extra hard on my tools,Tape measures don't last very long in my hands.

Well heck, you can occasionally get a free tape measure from Harbor Freight when they offer a coupon and everybody usually has a pencil laying around, so I'd say Johnnys' idea pretty well covers it. And it sure beats $19.99! :)

The lead refills are 9 bucks for a 2 pack. For that price, I could get roughly 12 carpenter pencils. I could see how that would be useful on small smooth projects but that thing wouldn't stand up to OSB.

I love my carpenter pencils. I'll admit though, I'm very good at losing them behind my ear.

They make sharpeners for them. This is the one I have.
