How I solved the short driveway / long truck issue

Yesterday I bought a 2013 Silverado extended cab.

It BARELY fits in my driveway.

So, I tapcon'd two 2x4s to the driveway.

Now my wife knows exactly how far forward she can pull without hitting something.

Is it a trip hazard? Probably. But its easily removable and gets the job done.

When I was in high school, my elderly neighbor asked me
to help her with the same problem . . . but inside the garage.
I hung a tennis ball on a string from the rafter so it would touch the
hood ornament when she was perfectly aligned in her parking space
and the door would close without hitting the bumper.

(lol yeah, we had hood ornaments back then).

Yep. I have something similar in my garages. However, since it is more of a trip hazard outside, you might consider cutting a tapered angle on all of the edges.

Or, maybe even use a couple of old car mats. Make a cutout the size of the 2x4, and drop the mats over the wood. They would act as sort of a "warning track" for anyone walking near by.

A laser that is aimed to line up with a piece of tape on the dashboard, or a fixed point on the car, is the solution to the trip hazard. Works inside the garage too.
Home depot has systems for this that are motion activated.

LOL - Rich, I have been known to trip over a parking

Yep, I have that for inside the garage when we park inside in the winter. But in the summer time its occupied by my camper and boat. I have a muddy back yard and I don't want to not be able to go camping because I can't get my camper out, and the boat is too easy to steal.
