Amana bottom freezer refrigerator 22 cu ft
Model ARB2214CW
Compressor will not start.
The consensus is that if the overload/start relay rattles when you shake it, it's toast. Mine does.

Question: Has anyone replaced the overload with a 3-way solid state device for starting the compressor?
If so, what is the longevity on these, if the compressor is still usable?

BTW . . . ICE ain't cheap!

Never tried it. If the compressor is on the way out anyway what could it hurt? Just watch it come on and off a few times. Make sure it isn't overheating. Or take it outside for a few cycles in case of fire.
