my dad said they got one of these in the wood shop at the school he teaches at... $3000 - but worth it if you were to lose a thumb
 
good thing we will only get a nick if he puts his hands near it... I think it costs like $300-600 to replace the blade and all that jams up should it hit something and lock up
 
The video on their site says cost for replacement after activation is about $60. I sure wish this had been invented 35 years ago. Working at a factory building office tables I got my left hand in the blade of a 12" table saw. Lost my index finger and the use of the other three. I say if it cost a thousand to replace, it would be worth it. But I am biased.

And I wonder how much they paid they guy to test it on his finger to prove it works not just on hotdogs? For me it wouldn't be so much the amount of money, but how much beer I would need to put my finger in there.
