I'm thinking about trying to plan myself a weekend getaway this spring(April/May), but not quite sure where I would like to go. I live in East Tennessee, and am thinking nothing more than maybe 4-5hr drive(Eastern NC, Northern GA, Southern Ky, Eastern VA). Thinking maybe somewhere that is either on a lake, or close to one. Not really looking for a "super-duper" fishing expedition, but I do plan on fishing.....just to be fishing basically. Any of you guys near any of these areas have any suggestions?

The wife and I have stayed at Moors Resort and Marina at Kentucky lake a couple of times. They have some decent lodging there, a good restaurant, and 2 boat ramps. You can also rent a covered boat slip if you want, or park your boat next close to your lodging, or rent one of their boats. Their prices aren't that bad either. It'll be busy this time of year though. Probably a little further than you want to drive though.

Lake Russell has prestine shore line.No house or docks. There are camp grounds around and hotels/motels.It's a fairly large lake,so there should be plenty of exploring and fishing. There's also some walking/hiking trails around there as well as good resturants.

It's on the SC/GA line not far from the TN line.

If your interested in driving several more hours, head south and we will go chase a red.

Oh man, I would love to....Although 9hours(according to mapquest) is a little more than what I had in mind....haha. Would love to come down there and do that sometime though.
