So here it is Friday night (Actually now is Saturday morning). I usually am asleep by now, but I am on here and watching TV. I hear a little noise in the kitchen and a slight hissing noise.

The cat jumped up on the Gas range and turned the knob to on. If I was asleep, the Gas would of went on all night.................

Wow. That is scary. Would having a carbon monoxide alarm catch it?

Newer Style Range? Don't They All Have The Safety Feature Now Where You Have To Push The Knob Inward And Then Twist The Valve To Open? You May Need To Replace A Valve? Check All Five ( Four Stove-Tops & Oven Valves ) To See It You Can Twist On Without Pushing In First.

Carbon Monoxide & Smoke Alarms Are Mounted Higher Up On The Walls/Ceilings, While A Propane/Natural Gas Detector Alarm Is Mounted Very Low. Propane Is Heavier Than Air, Settles To The Floor ( That's How It Travels To Ignition Sources ). Check Several Camper/RV Parts Suppliers On-Line & Google For Some More Basic Information.

How often does the cat jump up on the range? I trained our cats to stay off the kitchen counters with a spray bottle (ya just have to catch them in the act though) I would duck tape the knobs until you break the cat of this behavior.
