I always gave my dogs the ham bones when we cooked them. My chessie could eat the entire bone out of a 20lb ham in less than 30 minutes.

Dad always told me not to feed pork(bones)to dogs...said they splintered.
Maybe if they're cooked they won't?
Same with chicken.

Actually doing some research said not to boil them, that causes splintering.

For sure no chicken bones.

Every time we tried giving the dog a bone with marrow to chew on, it would wreck his stomach. The time the "wreck" happened in the house, was the last time he got one. #-o

We buy our meat from a butcher and get beaf bones for the dogs. They love the knuckles teh best. Of coarse they are outside when chewing, blood tends to stain teh carpet. Another favorite is pig ears, huves, and rawhide. Although the holves stink and the lab has nasty farts from teh rawhide.
