Cheap Alternative Anti-Slip Grip for Boats & Trailer Tongues

Post by sixgun86 »

I'm sure most of you know a tin boat can be slippery when wet.. I've had a couple close calls myself. Back in the day, many years ago I use to skateboard. I remember the grip tape was very durable and long lasting so I decided to try this route with much success. Now on those long night fishing trips where the boat is wet from condensation, fish blood, and Miller Lite I stand with confidence knowing I won't slip and fall.

Tips, Avoid the Anti Slip tape from Lowes of HD.. Too $$
-Look at Ebay, I used Jessup Brand with Success , a 9"x33" sheet $5.95 Shipped!
-Prob best to dedicate a pair of scissors as tape will dull them quickly
-Maybe straight edge and Razor blade?

Happy, Healthy Fishing to all!

I just looked on there and found 9x33" for $4.99 with free shipping and it's CLEAR. I'm gonna pull the trigger.

It was "Skate and Destroy" When we were lads (circa: Skate Rock volume 1 by Thrasher rag)

I remember "Skate or Die!" from that funky arcade video game 720'?

3M makes something similar to this only it's more a rubber based type tape (ACE hardware sells it by the foot or by a roll in different widths).
I've used it on the plastic Sun Dolphin boats I've had in the past. Also I have 1.5" wide strip on the edge of my main
15' aluminum boat so when stepping into the boat it cuts down on the possibility of.... #-o
Btw, how well does that tape hold up when wet (I.e. the sticking side staying stuck down)?

They have some pretty incredible skateboards today, when I was a kid we had to basically make our own, my forst board had steel wheels. I remember whne the urethane wheels came out, wow.

LOL When I was growing up they didn't even have store bought skateboards.
Seperate the 2 halves of a steel skate, nail them to a 2x4. Then sweep the sidewalk REAL GOOD. If you hit a pebble the skateboard made an abrupt stop but you didn't. Ahhhh those were the days. ;)
