1988 Alumacraft Lunker 16SS Update

Post by BLindahl »

Got a little winter project here. Plan on replacing floor, electrical, and making a bench as the captain seat, small casting platform. So far got some of the floor up and ripped out the rod locker on the right side. Want to go pretty bare bones with this similar to a Lund Alaskan?? No carpet, want to paint floor or use Tuff Coat?? Also would like to add 24Volt trolling motor up front if possible. Would have to Re-Frame front deck to add storage compartment for battery. Looking for any ideas.. Thanks

Ok back to working on this thing. Attempting to remove side compartments. Popped rivots on both sides and did manage to remove compartment on right side with Livewell control. Floor did not go all the way back to transom under compartment so it seems. Left side has been a pain removing. I’m guessing this is due to Livewell drain hoses coming in and out. May have to cut out some floatation to access drain. The battle continues...

Livewell / Storage compartment out ! Next move might be some electrical work. Need to install Trolling motor receptacle and maybe run new wire to back.

Oh man, this was going really nice. I was hoping to see the end product since my build is going to be so similar. As best I can tell, mine is an 89 Alumacraft Lunker 16S.

Slowly but surely. Decided to paint inside. Stay tuned, hopefully finish by end of year.
