I am in the middle of restoring the boat. I am debating on going with my local welding shop and have them fab up a aluminum transom for $500. Anyone have any ideas on a design to use?

I'd be happy to take a pic of my 2007 tracker if that would help. Has your welder ever done a transom or is he looking to you 100% for design?

My only head scratcher on your pic is that big thru hull hole right in the center? Who thought that up?

I was thinking about having him build this, or something close to it. He has built a few, but he doesn’t specialize in boats. Really good work though. And yes that is the splash drain hole.

The inside of the transom is really pitted bad from the wood, I was going to have him weld all of the holes up.
 
I had a guy who specializes in aluminum boats weld up an aluminum transom for my boat and I would say its worth every penny.
