I now use verizon service and am looking at getting a new phone a DROID X or ThunderBolt™ by HTC
what do the ones here thank that have used these phones and service?

Mike

Just got a Thunderbolt.excellent phone,I love all the free apps for android.
I only get 3g on it though as 4g isn't available in my area yet.Have used verizon for about 6-7 years and never reason to complain, you get what you pay for.

haha... Thats like comparing an escort to a new challenger... The Thunderbolt is far, far, better than the X. I just keep trying to justify paying for it outright, because I'm not eligible for another year for my upgrade.

I have had the droid x for a year and I like it. What's nice is that its the biggest screen made for cell phones and I can basically do everything the thunderbolt can. Thunderbolt is just a little faster and has 4g but still....

Had Verizon and a Droid. Great phone, great service and OUTRAGEOUS prices. Went to Straight Talk unlimited plan for $49 a month which is basically Verizon WITHOUT expensive contracts.

Can't use the Droid on Straight Talk BUT if one does some research you can run and Iphone on Straight Talk.

I have the Droid X and love it. I like the big screen with the big letters and numbers. it's much easier to use then the smaller phones. Plus there are so many free apps.....

The only negative is the camera. I can't take a good picture with it but it may be me......

I have been looking too.

The touch screen on my LG feature phone crapped out yesterday and I'm not eligible for an upgrade for 5 months yet.

Talking to an independent repair tech this afternoon, he said that the Droid phones except the Thunderbolt were slower than the IPhones. He also said that he's already had to repair 3 of the Thunderbolts and that the components are cheaply made. He didn't think that they were going to last like some of the phones on the market already. He also said that the newest IPhones aren't nearly as well made as the older 3Gs phones.

I still don't know what I'm going to do. My wife's contract with AT&T is up but my Verizon still has several months yet. We want to go to a family plan with a couple of smart phones. From what prices I got today, the plans are pretty much dead even for cost between ATT and Verizon after my 19% discount for Verizon through work. The phones are one heck of a lot cheaper through ATT right now.

I guess I'll get him to fix the screen on my LG until I'm at least eligible for an upgrade and then see what packages they both have out at the time. I refuse to pay full price for one of these phones. The markup on those things has got to be at least 500% given the deals that they can give on them at will.

Quackrstackr

I got mine as up grade BUT at a cost also,I will say that the battery life SUCKS..............

I have never had a phone like this and it is to cool it is ,faster than my laptop

Bottom line as of now i love it.

If you don't have 4g service (and most places don't yet), there is a way to set it to 3g and it will quadruple your battery life (or somewhere in that neighborhood). I read about how to do it today on cnet.

Never get an iphone. You can't do much of adding things to it because apple doesn't allow really anything on the phones. Android phone are basically like a computer. They support flash and adobe while iphone can't do so and that is huge in websites these days so with the iphone some websites wont work. Def get android phones.

*#*#4636#*#* then select the "CDMA auto (PRL)" my buddy does this on his Thunderbolt, it also increases your battery because you phone isn't constantly searching for the 4G towers.

caveman, some HTC phone's have the option to turn the mobile network off when you arent using the internet. ex: the phone is just sitting in your pocket. If you turn that off when you arent using it, you can get A LOT better life outta the battery. not sure if youve tried that but if you have any questions about it you can pm me.

As for the thunderbolt in general = AWESOME!!!! I am a cell tech and mess with everything but iphone's on a daily basis. My dad is switching to verizon from at&t and that is the phone I suggested. I like the X but I've seen a ton of issues with them.

and as for LG. as Quackrstackr stated..... most of their touch screen phone end up having issues with the digitizers.

Man... Sweet, I'm envious right now.

Sent from an htc incredible

I love my Incredible, but am seriously wanting a Thunderbolt. The 4G would be a bonus, but from me just going from a 3.7" screen to a 4" screen would be great. The screen on the X seemed too big, but the T-Bolt size is just right.

Couldn't agree more.

I compared the sizes when I was at the Verizon store on Saturday. Those two and the Iphone seemed to all be comparable in overall size.
