I am planinng on carpeting my floors with the storage lids in place and cutting around the edges of the hatches. The support braces for my hatches have been installed and cannot be re-attached once the floors have been carpeted without showing a bunch of screws. with carpet underneath they would not meet correctly and would be 1/8 higher than the rest of the deck. I have one hatch that has about an 1/8 th inch gap around the outer edge that i would leave the small carpet edge hanging over to cover, would this fold up and get ragged? Also for anyone who has done this how did you keep the glue out of your hinges? Anyone who has used this method, or anyone that can offer any input, anything would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to have my finish (carpet job) look cheap. Spent too much time modifying the rest of my boat!
