Im working on the part that goes over my gas tank compartment...what gap size are yall leaving for the outboard to miss it at the back?
 
Are you talking about the notch in the deck where the motor's transom mount is located?If so,I mount the motor where I want it.Then I put it in the running position.Next,I start cutting the deck until it closes all the way.I think the last one I did was 8 inches wide and 4.5 inches notched into the deck.
