Springfield Universal and Trac-Lock Chair Slide

Been lurking for a while and this is my first post. I have had several boats, both tin and glass that I have rigged for fresh and saltwater, so I might be able to contribute something in the future.

I am considering buying a couple of the Springfield Universal Chair Slides for my Alumnacraft 14 ft Jon. I am planning on mounting them so I could move side to side, not fore and aft like the description in Cabelas. From what I can see in the catalog picture it appears that this will be no problem. Has anyone used these chair slides before? What about the quality?

Looks well made but it only has 4.5 inches of adjustment. Will that be enough?

I am not sure, I just want to move off center enough to be able to operate the tiller with a little more comfort. From looking at the pictures, it looks like a quality product. I'll probably order a couple and see what happens. Thanks.
