How do you strap you jon boat to the trailer? I am currently going over the gunnel of the boat in the rear. I am looking for better ways for my boat.

That is the way I do mine. Hooked in front and pulled tight by the winch and strapped across the gunnel at the back with a strap with a ratchet to tighten it down.

The winch holds me at the bow. At the stern, I either run one over the gunwales, or I install transom eyes, and run a short ratchet strap from them to the trailer.

thats also how I strap down my little V. due to the small size of the boat most inexpensive transom tie down straps wouldnt work.

one addition is a steel cable through the bow eye when its on the trailer.

I have a handle on each side of the transom that I run a ratchet strap too & also another ratchet strap on the front along with the winch strap. On long hauls I double up the back straps encase one breaks.I also put a bungee on my tiller handle & lower unit so motor doesn't bounce around.
