Tunnel hull?

I am trying to decide if i want to put a tunnel hull in my jon boat. A buddy just picked up a boat over the weekend and the guy he bought it from built a custom tunnel for it. After running in it with him I kind of like how shallow he can run. His motor is picked up 5" higher with the tunnel. Just seeing if any guys on here have put a tunnel in a boat before. I know I will lose top end speed, but I really need to get up a little higher to run the river so that I don't keep knicking props in the gravel beds. Thanks.

I don't know about the tunnel hulls but I have a Mac's River Runner to protect the prop in shallow water.
