My V boat is being rebuilt now. I have my aluminum supports spaced at 12 in center to center. My flooring idea is similar to the guy's before me. Use a 2x12 going down the middle (trimming the ends so it sits level). I want to run 2x2's or 2x4's out from the middle stringer along each of the aluminum supports and skin this with 1/2 ply wood.

Is the 2x2 too weak to use'? About the longest run will be 29ish inches.

Here is what I was thinking...

Looking at your pic you should be fine.

I would just take one cut to length and place a brick or something of that nature under it then stand on it to see how much flex you get.

Thanks for the input. I did as suggested and streched one at 30 inches and bounced on it. I'm 220-225 - It flexed, but didn't break.

I tried the rear with the longest stretches first. I can walk/bounce all over this and it doesn't feel like it gives at all. I haven't attached anything together, just laid it out.

Thanks for the input, I'm real happy how it's turning out.
