How much space do you suggest to leave around the edge of floors and decks for a nice snug fit, once carpet is wrapped around?

Depends on the carpet... you're best off measuring yourself.
I left 1/8" on each side and it was a pretty snug fit.

The carpet I used needed 1/8 in. for each time it wrapped around an edge. So, let's say, if you did a split bench you would want a total of 1/2 in. of extra space for carpet.

Thanks guys. It's pretty thin stuff, 1/8" seems about right.
