I am getting a Jon boat soon... Either a 1436 or a 1440 flatbottom that I will be decking on the front. I wil also be putting an 8 foot rod locker on the left side of the boat and it will cut into the deck and into the bench seating. I am planning on using 5/8 inch plywood for both deck and rod locker and was wondering if you guys had any directions, links, or posts on how to carpet the deck. Thanks

Another option is to carpet each board individually. To do this, you would cut the carpet large enough to wrap around to the back side. Prior to stapling, you should apply a marine carpet glue to make sure the carpet stays tight to the board to avoid loosness in the carpet if it stretches. Also is an additional barrier from water on the top side of the boards. I will post pictures on my build when i do mine as this is my intended technique.
