Newbie, both to site and boat ownership. Great site, been searching it for a couple days now. I'm amazed at some of the craftmanship you people are capable of. I, on the other hand, am not very handy.

I'm taking delivery shortly of a Smoker Alaskan 15 deluxe. Really like the value, light weight, and open layout of the boat, after comparing to many others. It will be powered by a Mercury 25 horse 4 stroke. But I will also use it for fishing and would love to install a trolling motor on the bow. No bow platform exists on this boat. There are, however, 2 fairly robust looking grab handles on the bow -- one on each side of the centerline, starting about 3 or 4 inches off center. (I tried to copy and paste a picture off google images, but with no success.)

I've seen various platform builds on the site, but was wondering if anyone has done anything creative in using the handles to mount the trolling motor, with or without the use of a platform or mounting bracket? I'm trying to achieve a minamalist design that avoids as much as possible drilling into the boat.

Maybe I'm wishful thinking, but would appreciate any advice or thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Here is the best image I can find showing the grab handles to each side of the bow. Thanks.

Let me try that again -- link didn't work.

Third photo to the right -- aerial front view shows the handles the best. Thanks.
