Hi I have a 14ft seanymph a 1457 model the boat is rated for a 15hp engine I was wondering if anyone has gone over the rating, if so how big?? I have a 9.9 johnson on it now but would like a little more power kman

Depends on how strong the transom is.Pics of the boat would help.If this is your first boat I would strongly recommend staying with rated HP.You'd see a pretty good improvement with the 15hp over the 9.9.

Not sure if insurance would cover an accident if you over powered a boat. Also, some starts have laws, rules, regs against it.

Matched with the right prop, that 15hp would scoot that boat around 20+mph. I'm not sure I would go over the HP rating for that boat either.

I know that when I insured my boat through State Farm they asked me a couple different times what the HP was to make sure I wasn't exceeding the limits of my boat.
