I'd use glue. The staples will hold for a bit if you pull the carpet taught, but they will loosen over time. The glue is easy to apply and will make your deck carpet last a lot longer.

Wish I knew the answer myself. I glued the bigger pieces, but only stapled the smaller ones. Guess time will tell.

Definitely use glue! Staples will fail over time. I tried them in the past and fortunately it was on a small area. I had to replace the piece and I used glue. No more problem.
