In my area I see alot of 14 to 16' alumacraft V type of boats for sale that have a console. Does anyone have an idea the cost for a tiller handle and have it wired? Or is the wiring the handle something a newbie can do? The reason for removing the console is for the added room and less weight. The motors are normally yamaha or mariners in the '90's.

Here is an example:

I will remove the console, cables etc. I need to purchase the handle and wire it.

Any ideas on the cost for this or should I be able to handle this? I have the ability, but ZERO experience with boat motors.

Is there a limit on the amount of HP for a tiller steer? I see plenty of 3-35HP tiller boats but is 70HP to much and if so why?

Some of the bigger motors have power-assisted tiller steering.

I know the older ones go to aleast a 60hp,I've had one.
Some of the newer designs for walleye fisherman go way big...175+
They have power steering of sorts...etc heres a link to one manufacturer:

Your boat could be the limit,my boat has 2 max hp's; 1 for tiller(35hp) and 1 for remote(60hp).
