Do I need a special die to buck rivets or can it be done with a hammer and dolley? I have a few that have been distorted and would hammer down a bit crooked. Any tips on working these down tight?

the correct way of doing buck rivets is to have the correct air rivet die for the size of buck rivet you are using. On the other side you can use just about any piece of solid metal such as a hammer, 5lb hammer, steel plate.

Without the proper tool to fit the head, the rivet or the substrate will be damaged. The backing tool needs to be heavy metal that will fit the rivet in the allowed area. Both people on each side of the rivet need to have some experience in bucking them.
