i wet sanded with a 220 then put a olive base down, got some stencils out of the yard and got the black done. still gotta hit it with the kaki and maybe some primer to add some more depth to it but it's a start. will get the sides done sooner or later then deck the front and put bed liner on the inside

any ideas about getting the wood out and new wood in with out cutting the support? it's about 1" thick or better

First off I like the camo. It looks like it has some real depth to it. How did you do it?

Second as far as replacing the transom you could drill the rivets out and then replace the transom and then add new rivets. Also since the wood is 1" thick you could cut out the wood to fit and then cut one sheet of ply say 10" from one side and cut the other one 10" from the other side. That way neither one will have the cut piece on the same side and then install in the boat and glue together in the boat. (this way is very hard to do and I would not have as much confidence in it with a bigger motor.
Personally I would drill the rivets.

i wish i would have left it just the olive and black because now i've added the tan and it really changed the look. i'm gonna try to do it over and just use the two colors for the entire boat or use olive as the base then use the tan over some leaves then try the black for depth. it is really simple just get some leaves out of your yard and paint black over the olive, the overspray is what makes it. i think your right about removing the support, the upper part of the transom is in good shape but the lower is beginning to rot a bit. i might just try to rhino line the wood to seal it off as much as possible, if that would work? i'll get some pics up this evening when i get a chance to go back over it.

may have over done it a bit

I still think it looks good. I like it both ways, but different strokes for different folks. Either way....you've done good.

thanks folks, here is the redone transom and i started on the side. i won't have to replace the carpet on the trailer because it's moldy black and the growing moss adds some texture

finished transom
