I run a 20 on a 1438 and sometimes I wish I went with the boat max of 25hp. I would say my boat and yours is close to the same weight. I get 25-27 mph by myself. Quick to plane, even loaded heavy. Does loose alot top end when loaded heavy how ever.

What year/make? If its a 90s model tohatsu/nissan youll have a rocket on your hands. Either way, any 18hp would be perfect on that boat.

That will be more then enough power for a 1436.I run a 15hp 4stroke merc on my 1436 and it brings tears to my eyes. :shock:

I'm running a Mariner 25hp motor on my 1436. It's a blast when it's empty and can still move when fully rigged for duck hunting.
