Title (1971)is different year than hull number ending 72,read somewhere that last two digits indicate year? There are no tags on the boat to tell me the model, what I'd like to do is see a picture of how she originally looked like from the factory, seen a few on your site that looked real close. The 73 Polar that Icaluras did was the closest, structure supports where different on the on the transom and sides, only one seat on mine and the front deck is longer, starts at the first rib, just want to see how she looked new

posting pictures in case someone might know where I an find pictures or more info

Hey HTD, I found my HIN in the area circled in red. I just checked it out online and found the year, last two digits. Your 16' looks to have stronger ribs, nice boat.

Thanks for the response Ictalurus.I had located the hull number where you said,I was questioning the difference between the Title, which says it is a 1971,and the actual hull number which ends in 72,must be a cross over to the next year? Was wondering what the model number is?I,ve been looking at your 73 Polarkraft 1440 MV(which by the way looks "KUDOS" excellent job dude)which is what caught my eye, like you noticed, the ribs look alot more sturdy, the front deck extends back to the first rib, only one seat and the transom has three struts.whould you know where I might be able to find out what model this is? Hopefully see some orginal factory pictures?Just real curiuos?

I would definitely base my determination on the HIN rather than the title. When I registered my boat the original title had a 80's model year, I had it changed on the new title to match the HIN. It looks like PolarKraft made four 16' models that year:

1972 Polar Kraft S-1618
1972 Polar Kraft S-1640-16
1972 Polar Kraft S-1640-18
1972 Polar Kraft S-1651

Numbers usually indicate length, bottom width, transom height or some combination.

Ictalurus, thanks for the info, you know more about PolarKraft then PolarKraft,no really, got a response back from PolarKraft today here is what they said:
Mr. Kelly,
I will not have any info on that old of boat. The number 23872 does not mean it is a 1972 boat. I would go with what your title says.
