The new boat i bought has solid rivets in it. Not pop rivets. I was wondering if you could re hammer them? Any opinions would be great! Thanks!

Yes you can. You will need to hold another hammer or something behind the other side of the rivet to tighten it up. There are several good articles on the forum about how to do this. Some people actually have some special tools for this, but a good hammer and piece of backer steel will work fine.

If it takes more than one hit to tighten them down, it is best to replace them, as it means the shank is no long filling the hole entirely, and rebucking doesn't expand the shank, it merely clamps the two sides harder together, which is not good. Knocking them out and putting new ones is really the only correct way to go.
