I'm considering getting a smaller motor to use on my boat and am curious about
speed and weight and hp in 14' Vee's and the smallest i could use to get on plane in a reasonable amount of time so I'd like to take an informal poll among 14' V owners. speeds relative so include your boat manufacturer, boat width, motors brand and hp stock /modified, and estimate the weight of your boat and speed. I'll go first
Brand length and width {1} 14'x48" SeaKing
{2}motor 18 hp Johnson
{3}slightly modified w/stock parts
{4}weight boat /stock /carpeted with el cheapo swivel seats , motor/fuel , and required equipment 230lbs then add me 240lbs=470lbs stripped for speed ////average load w/wife, fishing equipment ,coolers, etc= 700lb est
{5a} stripped 25mph recorded on depth finder / verified by Gps
{5b} loaded 20/21mph recorded
