I was thinking of buying one of these and would like to hear people's opinions who have owned or ridden in one. I have a brand new 25hp yam 2 stroke and wondering if this will be enough to push this boat around. Max rating on the boat is 40hp, so not sure if I should pursue this hull. If I can get 28mph out of the hull I'll be happy.

I dont think you will get 28 out of it unless its bare empty with just you in it! Where are you located?

Buddy of mine has the 1648 with a 40hp Yamaha on it.

It probably runs in the low to mid 30's loaded.

He has had several cracked welds that needed to be fixed.
 
I have a 648ldv w/25hp merc, and I get 27mph with fishing gear, about 25mph with 2 people and gear. I have to say I love this boat!
