Im in the process of decking the front of my boat and im going to put in a couple of compartments. My question is do I have to sand the cut out compartment lid before carpeting to get ot to close?

I will post pics soon under my mod heading.

Thanks

I think mine was like 3/8 or so that had to come off, but yes for my flush compartment I had to take off more to wrap the carpet. I used a jig saw and cut around it again, but I have a steady hand and the carpet helps. Sanding would be safe, but I had to take off more material than I was willing to sand, my carpet was rubber backed.

DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR USING FOR DECKING IF ITS JUST PLY A TABLESAW WOULD MAKE QUICK WORK OF IT, SET THE FENCE CUT THE WOOD! ALSO WOULD GIVE YA A NICE STRAIGHT CUT
