For my project, I need two 4x8 sheets of aluminum.
The local metal distributor quoted me the following:
1 4x8 sheet 5052 .120" $118.55
1 4x8 sheet 5052 .188" $180.10
So, for the two sheets I need, the cost and weight differences are as follows:
.120" Weight = 113 lbs Cost = $237.10
.188" Weight = 172 lbs Cost = $360.20
Difference --> The .188" is $123.10 more and weighs 59 lbs more.
I don't mind paying more to get the thicker stuff, but adding 60lbs has me scratching my head - is it worth it????
What do you guys think?
