After years of lusting after & dreaming about it, last night I FINALLY got my very first legitimate Bass Boat! \:D/
A 1978 Monark "Fast 15" (15'). I got in trade for a 1974 15.5' "Fabuglass" Tri-Hull Boat (last pic) that I initially picked up for a measly $200.00 off CraigsList. I had nothing really invested in that boat except a small amount of time & foam rubber & vinyl. The guy needed a bigger boat for his 3 kids & wife & I always wanted a bass boat so-Voila! Everything appears to be solid, just needs some minor work like wiring, steering wheel & cable replacement, buffing out etc... Btw, If anyone here has any useful tips or info on this particular make of bass boat (like what HP it's rated for), it'd be appreciated. And I am giving very serious consideration to just dropping the 1972 45hp Chrysler OB motor in favor of a Johnson/Evinrude 40-50hp. Nothing against Chryslers mind you, it's just that the parts are so hard to find & so expensive when you do manage to snag them. I was told the problem was no spark & the suspect is the coils. I'll check that out in detail soon. Right now I'm just enjoying the afterglow.

And here's the boat I traded for the bass boat. Which btw, was a real Bi--h on gas when hauling it. glad to see it go. I originally bought the Tri-Hull as a profit-making venture.

Nice lookin boat, not sure where in MI your at but there used to be a marina in Monroe that sold parts and serviced Chrysler motors. I can't remember the name of the place and don't know if they are still there so I guess I'm not much help :D

Thanks and Yes you are! And I live near Flint. But anyway, I found a couple of Chrysler "dealers". One is up in Bark River (the UP) & the other is somewhere in lower Michigan. I'm going to do a compression test on the ole' Mopar motor asap & then find out if it is indeed only the coils. I think the boats ignition system has been converted from a "Magna Power" to a standard older style. If that's true, good thing because those Chrysler power packs are as rare as hen's teeth & usually MIGHTY expensive when you do discover one for sale
