Choosing which paint

Hi,
I just got a 12 foot jon boat, the overall condition is pretty good but It really needs a new coat of paint. I am completely clueless when it comes to this, so what would be a good but fairly in expensive paint to buy from Home Depot? Do I need to prime first?

I used Rustoleum Topside paint that I purchased from Home Depot online. I primed first with self etching primer from the auto section of Walmart.

Thanks, ive heard some good and bad stories from rustoleum. how did you fare?
Which primer should I also get? any other paint ideas? Im restriced to home depot and walmart shopping.

I just painted mid summer last year, but so far the paint is doing great.

The primer I used is the Rustoleum primer found in the automotive section of Walmart.
