1982 16' Silvercraft

I recently acquired a 1982 16' Silvercraft with an 84/85 7.5 hp Gamefisher from my father-in-law. Since he had never registered it in Georgia he gave me the boat so I could do the footwork for registering the boat. Can't beat that price.

I have a few questions about this boat if you guys don't mind helping me...

1. Is a Silvercraft a knockoff of a Starcraft?
2. What is the motor rating be for this vessel? (The transom was rotten and had no plate with this information)
3. Is 25 hp too much motor for this boat?

Any advice or information would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

I just googled silvercraft, and couldn't find any aluminum boats. The name came back as being Silver Craft (two words) out of Oregon in the 70's, then Silvercraft (one word and again out of Oregon) in the 90's.

Where did you get the date of the boat from?

I got all the information I have about the boat from the title my father-in-law signed over to me.

Also in the picture you can see where I removed an old faded decal. That decal said Silvercraft (one word).
